Annual Saint Sava Ball Held in Hamilton

Annual Saint Sava Ball Held in Hamilton

This year's Saint Sava Ball, organized by the Saint Sava Youth Fund of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, was held at the Winona Vine Estates banquet hall in Hamilton on February 7, 2026.

During the highly successful evening, speakers recalled the humble beginnings of the summer children’s camp, which has been held annually on the grounds of the Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Milton since 2018, and informed all present of its remarkable growth. Last year alone, the camp welcomed over 400 children and 160 volunteers over two weeks, and this year it is expanding to include a third week for teenagers, with projections for more than 500 campers. With this growth came an exciting and significant announcement. What began as a plan for portable classrooms has now evolved into the construction of a permanent facility. Fr. Jovan Marjanac shared the good news that the Saint Sava Youth Fund has raised $415,000 to date, with all funds generously matched by Mr. Zeljko Colakovic.

This is a huge milestone that will have a lasting impact by providing a stronger foundation, better resources, and a brighter future for our children for generations to come – all to the glory of God and the growth of children in Christ. The Saint Sava Youth Fund would like to express its sincere gratitude to all of the donors, sponsors, and many supporters who have contributed throughout the year. Their generosity – along with the dedication of our dedicated volunteers – is what allows our camp and community to continue to grow and thrive.
