Palm Sunday in Hamilton

On Sunday, April 13th, 2025, the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church on Barton St in Hamilton, Ontario, celebrated the Great Feast of Palm Sunday, the Entrance of Our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. Hundreds of faithful filled the church, having gathered to celebrate the feast and receive the Holy Eucharist. The Holy Hierarchical Liturgy was served with His Eminence, Most Reverend Mitrofan, Archbishop of Toronto and Metropolitan of Canada. The following clergy co-officiated; V. Rev. Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Lazar Vukojev, V. Rev. Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Milovan Sredojević, V. Rev. Stavrophor Vojislav Pavlović, Deacon Petar Marjanović and Sub-Deacon Vujo Jurković.
Prior to Holy Liturgy, Miroljub Petrovic, Parish Council Secretary and Choir Member, was tonsured and added to the clergy rank of Reader. Reader Miroljub has now been blessed by the Metropolitan to read in services and in the Divine Liturgy. May God grant him many years!
After Holy Liturgy, His Eminence blessed the palm and willow branches, followed by a procession of the faithful around the church, with children joyously ringing their bells. A lenten banquet was served in our church hall, lovingly prepared by our Circle of Serbian Sisters ‘Mala Gospojina’, under the leadership of President, Milka Čulić. With grateful hearts, we thank God for His Grace and mercy, on this Holy Day. Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord!
