Ten Years Since the Enthronement of Bishop Mitrofan to the Throne of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada

September 18, 2026 marks ten years since the enthronement of Bishop (now Metropolitan) of Canada, Dr. Mitrofan, to the throne of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, in the All Serbian Saints Church in Mississauga.

In May 2016, the Holy Spirit spoke through our Hierarchs, at the regular session of the Holy Council of Bishops, and chose and offered this duty to the then Bishop of Eastern America Mitrofan. On September 18, 2016, Bishop (now Metropolitan) of Canada Mitrofan was enthroned on the throne of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada in the All Serbian Saints Church in Mississauga. That was the day when, at the end of the Holy Liturgy, the then Administrator of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej, officially handed over the diocese.

This blessed anniversary, marking ten years since his enthronement, provides us with an opportunity to recall those days and to pay tribute to His Eminence for his faithful service, spiritual leadership, and unwavering dedication to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and His Holy Church on North American soil for nearly fourty years. Through his pastoral care, His Eminence continues to strengthen the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada and encourage the faithful throughout our communities. With feelings of love, respect, and gratitude to the Lord God, we offer our sincere prayers to the Lord to abundantly bestow upon our Metropolitan His grace and blessings, strengthening him in his many pastoral and spiritual responsibilities, for the glory of God and the edification of His Holy Church. We also thank God for the opportunity to grow, both morally and spiritually, through the fatherly leadership and spiritual guidance of Metropolitan Mitrofan.
