Celebration of the Patronal Feast of the Holy Trinity Church in Montreal

On May 31, 2026, the parish community in Montreal celebrated one of its most joyful and significant feast days – the patronal feast of the church (Slava), the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, the Holy Trinity. Gathered in spiritual joy and prayer, the faithful offered thanksgiving to the Lord for all the blessings He pours out upon the Holy Trinity Parish in Montreal.

The celebration began with the Divine Liturgy, served by Protopresbyter Vladimir Vranic, accompanied by the prayerful chanting of the Milan Rakic Choir under the direction of Mrs. Kristina Maric. Following the Liturgy, a festive procession was held around the church, the traditional Slava offerings were blessed, and the Kneeling Prayers of the Pentecost Vespers service were read.

Parishioners and guests were warmly welcomed at the entrance of the church by Nikolina Tisma and Tihana Bogdan, dressed in beautiful Serbian national costumes, contributing to the festive spirit of the celebration and graciously showcasing the beauty of Serbian culture and hospitality.

A special honour and joy were brought to the community by this year’s patronal feast sponsors (kumovi), Dr. Milenko Petrovic and Mr. Zoran Mijuskovic, together with their families. The parish extends its heartfelt gratitude for their love, dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the parish community. On this occasion, it was announced that next year’s sponsors will be Mr. Jovan Stojanovic and Mr. Jovan Kesic with their families, and prayers were offered for God’s blessing as they prepare for this important service in the life of the community.

The celebration was also honoured by the presence of the Mayor of the City of Westmount, Mr. Michael Stern, and the Councillor for the Fifth District, Mr. Sean Moss. The parish expresses its gratitude for their attendance, friendship, and inspiring words addressed to the community.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a festive luncheon was held, accompanied by prayers and the singing of the Milan Rakic Choir. After the blessing of the meal, Fr. Vladimir Vranic addressed those gathered, offering words of spiritual encouragement and strengthening to the community. The cultural program was enriched by a performance from the Avala Serbian Folklore Ensemble and its dance group, which delighted all those present. The celebration was further enhanced by remarks from this year’s sponsors, Dr. Milenko Petrovic and Mr. Zoran Mijuskovic, as well as from the distinguished guests, Mr. Sean Moss and Mr. Michael Stern.

At the conclusion of the program, the Church Board presented certificates of appreciation and icons of the Holy Trinity to major benefactors of the church as a sign of sincere gratitude for their love and support of the Mother Church. The community also extends special thanks to Mrs. Vesna Jankovic, President of the Cultural Committee, for organizing the program, as well as to Ana Braton and Miljana Stojanovski, who skillfully served as masters of ceremony in Serbian, English, and French.

A particularly profound spiritual blessing of this year’s celebration was the veneration of holy relics and the reception of blessings from the relics of Saint Seraphim of Sarov, Saint John of Shanghai and San Francisco, Saint Spyridon of the Kyiv Caves, as well as the wonderworking relics of Saint Spyridon of Trimythous, Saint Gabriel of Georgia, and the myrrh of Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki the Myrrh-Gusher.

May the grace of the Holy Spirit, which was poured out upon the Holy Apostles on the Day of Pentecost, continually strengthen the faithful people, their families, and the Holy Trinity Parish in Montreal. Through the prayers of the Holy Trinity, may the Lord bless the sponsors, benefactors, and all those who contribute through their love, labour, and sacrifice to the life and mission of the Holy Church.
