Holy Hierarchical Liturgy Celebrated at Saint Nicholas Church in Hamilton
Article by Zorka Djurdjevic
On Sunday, December 21, 2025, the community at the Saint Nicholas Church in Hamilton (Barton Street) gathered in joyful prayer to celebrate their church Slava, the Feast Day of its patron saint, Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. This year’s celebration was especially significant, as it commemorated the fiftieth anniversary of the consecration of the church and the twentieth anniversary of the blessing of the frescoes. The parishioners of the church were honoured with a visit from His Eminence Metropolitan of Canada Dr. Mitrofan who served the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy on that occasion, concelebrated by the parish priest, the Very Reverend Protpresbyter-Stavrophor Vojislav Pavlovic, and numerous clergy. This highlights the deep spiritual significance of this milestone for the Serbian Orthodox community in Hamilton. We express gratitude to the Mala Gospojina Circle of Serbian Sisters for their dedicated work in preparing the banquet, as well as to all who helped serve the lunch. A special acknowledgment goes to this year's hosts, the Tomic family, and to the Balta family, for accepting the honour for the coming year. May Saint Nicholas continue to guide and protect our parish and families for many years to come. Amen.
