Metropolitan Mitrofan Served at Holy Cross Romanian Orthodox Monastery

On Saturday September 20, His Eminence Metropolitan of Canada Dr. Mitrofan celebrated the Divine Liturgy with His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada. The Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by Hieromonk Polycarp, abbot of the monastery, Fr. Jovan Marjanac, secretary of the Diocesan Administrative Board of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, as well as priests of the Georgian, Carpatho-Russian, and Romanian Churches.

After the service, a small consecration of the summer altar and a ceremonial inauguration of the pavilion were held.

In his welcoming words, Bishop Ioan Casian greeted Bishop Mitrofan, emphasizing that all Romanians are proud to have their student among the hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church. On that occasion, the monastery brethren presented Bishop Mitrofan with an icon of Saint Dumitru Staniloae, Bishop Mitrofan's professor, who was recently canonized.

Visibly moved, Metropolitan Mitrofan spoke and greeted all those present, remembering his Romanian elders, teachers, and spiritual fathers from his youth, many of whom were canonized.

The Monastery of the Holy Life-Giving Cross was founded in 2011. It is located 50km north of Toronto in the village of Mono.
