Slava Celebration in Winnipeg

Article by Fr. Georgije Tubonjic
On Sunday, September 14, on the feast of the Council of Serbian Saints, the Slava of our holy church was solemnly celebrated. The Divine Liturgy was presided over by Protopresbyter-Stavrophor and Dean of the Western Canadian Deanery, Fr. Obrad Filipovic from Calgary, with the concelebration of parish priest Fr. Georgije Tubonjic.
The Holy Liturgy was attended by a large number of the faithful, who participated in this great spiritual event in prayer and joy. After the Communion of the faithful, a ceremonial procession around the church was held, and then the blessing of the Slava gifts was performed. The godparents of this year's slava were the Pekic family, while the godparents for next year will be the Komlenovic family.
A special Slava program was then organized, prepared by the Church and School Congregation, with the participation of the church folklore group Beograd (Belgrade). The program was filled with song, dance and spiritual joy, to the glory of God and the honour of Serbian saints.
We thank all the contributors, participants, benefactors and godparents who, with their effort and love, have enhanced this holy and joyful celebration. May the Serbian saints, whose feast day we celebrate, be the prayerful protectors of our church and all believers.
