Paschal Matins and Midnight Liturgy at Saint Sava Church in Toronto
On April 11, 2026, in a packed Saint Sava Church in Toronto, the bells of Saint Sava rang out before midnight, announcing the greatest joy of all Orthodox Christians – the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The Paschal Matins was served by the retired Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Prvoslav Puric, and the midnight Paschal Liturgy was served by the parish priest Protopresbyter Jovica Cetkovic. The clergy dressed in bright vestments, the ripida bearers, candle bearers, and the pious faithful took part in a procession around the church with the joyful singing of the Paschal Troparion. At exactly midnight, after the procession around the church, the joyful news was announced: "Christ is Risen!", to which the gathered faithful responded: "Truly He is Risen!".
Fr. Jovica sent Paschal greetings to the brother clergy, all Orthodox parishes in North America, and the entire Serbian nation. The Kir Stefan the Serb Church Choir sang at the Liturgy, along with the local pojci (singers) and the participation of the gathered faithful, who received Holy Communion in large numbers.
