The Slava of the Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Milton is Celebrated

On the Great Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the only monastery in the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada liturgically celebrated its Slava.
The Holy Hierarchical Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop of New Gracanica–Chicago and Metropolitan of Midwestern America Longin with the concelebration of His Eminence Archbishop of Toronto and Metropolitan of Canada Mitrofan, numerous clergy of the Eastern Canadian Deanery of the Diocese of Canada, and several priests of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
Metropolitan Longin, congratulating the host on the Slava, called on all Orthodox to unity in Christ, around the Holy Liturgy, and reminded that only in this way can we achieve national unity.
His Excellency Dejan Ralevic, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Canada, as well as many representatives of patriotic, cultural, and church organizations from Canada, also participated in the prayer service.
Metropolitan Mitrofan thanked Metropolitan Longin as well as the representatives of the Russian, Georgian and Romanian churches who enhanced the festive mood with their participation. He particularly referred to the work of Ambassador Ralevic, and, thanking him for his correct cooperation, presented him with an icon of Saint Sava for prayerful remembrance.
After the service, the godparents of the Slava, Danijel and Jovana Skrga from Montreal, with the help of the Blaga Marija Circle of Serbian Sisters from Kitchener, organized a feast for several hundred guests. The Slava feast continued with epic songs performed by folk guslars Dragan Vladicic and Novica Stanic.
