Liturgical Joy and Parish Administrative Transfer in Whitby
On August 30, 2026, the day when the Church celebrates the Holy Martyr Myron, the Holy Liturgy was celebrated in the Saint Arsenije Sremac Church in Whitby. The Holy Liturgy was celebrated by Fr. Petar Marjanovic with the concelebration of Fr. Milos Puric. The choir was led by Hadzi-Aleksandar Markovic, presbytera Dunja Marjanovic, Sofija Milovanovic and Svetozar Jovanovic. A passage from the Apostles was read by Joshua Fapo.
After the Holy Liturgy, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop of Toronto and Metropolitan of Canada Mitrofan, the handover of the Parish of Saint Arsenije Sremac was performed between the former parish priest Fr. Milos Puric, who is transferring to the Parish of Saint Gabriel the Archangel in Richmond Hill, and the current parish priest, Fr. Petar Marjanovic.
After the Holy Liturgy, a festive and rich lunch was organized by the Mala Gospojina Circle of Serbian Sisters and members of the Church Board. The day passed in brotherly love and unity, marking this important moment in the life of this parish community. Thus, the words of the Holy Apostle Paul, let us be “eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3), came to fruition.
It was truly beautiful to see the church filled with faithful people who received Holy Communion in large numbers and who came to thank Father Milos for his many years of effort, work and service in this parish, as well as to extend a warm welcome and fraternal support to the new parish priest, Father Petar Marjanovic.
