Parishes in British Columbia Welcomed Ambassador Tomasevic
The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Canada, Stefan Tomasevic, during his stay in the province of British Columbia, visited the Saint Sava Church in Vancouver. During a meeting with the clergy, representatives of the Church and School Congregation and parishioners, Ambassador Tomasevic discussed the position of the Serbian community and the Church in Vancouver, its activities and possible ways of further strengthening ties with the mother country. In an open conversation with the Serbian community, which was organized in the premises of the Church and School Congregation in the presence of Fr. Vuk Milisic, Fr. Marko Radmanovic and retired protopresbyter-stavrophor Fr. Miroslav Dejanov, the importance of preserving the spiritual and cultural identity of the Serbian people in Canada was emphasized.
Later, accompanied by Honorary Consul Predrag Vladikovic and First Advisor Sandra Hadzagic, Ambassador Tomasevic visited the Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Burnaby, where he was welcomed. On this occasion, the Ambassador spoke with Fr. Sinisa Milutinovic and representatives of the Church and School Congregation about their activities, as well as the importance of preserving religious and cultural identity in the diaspora. Special attention was paid to the role of the Church as a place of spiritual nourishment, gathering and nurturing of tradition.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the hospitality and emphasized the importance of the mother country's support for compatriots abroad, with the readiness to further improve cooperation in the future.
